Richard Burton
Actor inglés, su verdadero nombre era Richard Walter Jenkins, conocido por sus interpretaciones teatrales de Shakespeare y las colaboraciones con Elizabeth Taylor, con la que se casó en dos ocasiones. Nació en Pontrhydyfen, Gales, estudió en Oxford y sirvió en la RAF. Tuvo gran éxito tanto en el cine como en el teatro. Destacan sus representaciones en el teatro londinense Old Vic de Hamlet, Noche de reyes, La Tempestad y Otelo (1953-1954), de Shakespeare, aparte de sus intervenciones en obras de otros autores. Su filmografía incluye Mi prima Raquel (1952), La túnica sagrada (1953), ambas dirigidas por Henry Koster, Mirando hacia atrás con ira (1959, Tony Richardson), Becket (1963, Peter Glenville) y La noche de la iguana (1964, John Huston). Estuvo casado cinco veces, dos de ellas con Liz Taylor (1964-1974 y 1975-1976), con quien compartió protagonismo en Cleopatra (1963, Josehp Leo Mankiewicz), La fierecilla domada (1967, Franco Zeffirelli), y ¿Quién teme a Virginia Woolf? (1966, Mike Nichols). En 1983 haría su última aparición en los escenarios neoyorquinos, junto a Liz Taylor, en Vidas privadas. Su último papel cinematográfico fue en 1984 (1984, Michael Radford), sobre la novela homónima de George Orwell.
